Micro Brasserie de Chamonix (the 'MBC')
Après-ski and sports bar that produces and sells its own highly rated real ales and lagers
Opened in 2002, the Micro Brasserie de Chamonix is the oldest micro-brewery in the Haute Savoie. Referred to locally as "the MBC", this is a fun and original place to hang-out.
Run by Canadians with a passion for beer, this bar produces a range of its own highly regarded and naturally produced real ales and lagers. Their selection includes a Blonde de Chamonix light pilsner (light, smooth, refreshing), a Granite Pale Ale (amber, caramelly ale) through to hardcore Stout des Drus (rich, strong coffee/chocolate taste) and are all made from the finest malts, hops, and yeasts available without preservatives or additives.
The MBC is decked out in part with the fermenting tanks and vessels and otherwise resembles what you would imagine a Canadian pub to look like. One thing is for certain there is a lively buzz inside - no doubt merrily fuelled by the contents of those same barrels!
Being slightly out of town (opposite the ice rink and sports centre) the MBC relies on its strong reputation for good beer and live entertainment: there are often great live bands playing during après-ski and in the evenings. As part of the experience, you can also enjoy authentic world flavour cooking as there is a full restaurant menu available [see our Restaurants page for a review].
Open daily all year round, you can quench your thirst here from 16:00 - 01:00 Monday to Thursday and from 10:00 - 01:00 Friday to Sunday. Their dinner menu is available any night of the week or you can also pop by for brunch and lunch over the weekend, Friday to Sunday. Watch out for their regular promos evenings, such as half-price chicken wings every Monday, €10 pitchers on Wednesdays and Fish & Chips on Fridays.
