4. Photography workshop - "L'Art du Regard"

Location
Chamonix

Join an award-winning photographer for a half-day course focused on improving your observation, exploring light, and developing your photographic eye. This workshop is suitable for all levels, ages, and equipment types.

The goal is simple: learn to really see. Technique matters, but without vision, a photo can feel flat. In this half-day discovery session, you’ll practice noticing details, framing shots, and finding visual resonance in the landscape. Almost any weather can offer opportunities - snow, fog, or wind can add subtle effects - but heavy rain will be avoided. Workshop locations will be shared in advance and generally follow easy walking trails.

Groups are small, with two to four participants, keeping the experience personal and focused. Private one-to-one sessions are also available. Monica will be on hand to answer any technical questions as you go.

Based around Chamonix, these workshops give you a chance to slow down, observe your surroundings, and develop your photography in a relaxed, supportive environment. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced photographer, this session will help you see your subjects in new ways and capture images that stand out.

Mont Blanc Writing Workshops 2017

9. Mont Blanc Writing Workshops

Location
Chamonix

Mont Blanc Writing Workshops take place in Chamonix in June each year.

Budding writers of any level can take part in the sessions to hone their writing skills, whether they're looking to start a writing project or bring one to a conclusion and get advise on getting published.

The workshops run for two weeks in June, with participants working with bestselling and award winning authors like Pam Houston, Erin Belieu, Adrian Matejka, David Daley and Ann Hood. (Previous authors in attendance have included Cheryl Strayed and Alexander Chee).

Classes follow a traditional workshop format and are capped at 12 participants per group, working with one author for the duration of the two weeks. Each student will have their work critiqued twice before the group, with the faculty member running the show. Classes meet once a day, usually in the morning, and typically last for about three hours.

Former students have gone on to publish books, articles, and short stories.

This year's workshop takes place from 11th to 23rd June 2017.
