The heavy snowfall in recent weeks has led to a delay of important technical visits to the AIguille du Midi as part of the ongoing renovation plans, as a result the top section of the Aiguille du Midi will be closed for two days: 11th and 12th January.

The renovation works are officially due to start this Autumn but the project planners need to have access to the site in the meantime.
The Aiguille du Midi is due to have a number of new features which will make the site more accessible to holiday makers, which will include a new covered terrace to be constructed at the top level so even on the windiest of days the stunning panoramic view can be enjoyed in comfort.
There will also be a thrilling new addition in the form of a glass walkway suspended into the void, so visitors to Chamonix can experience views from a dizzying height in perfect security.
During this short period of closure visitors can still use the first section of the lift up to the Plan de l'Aiguille. Live lift status can be found here.
