Chamonix Vallee Blanche Exit Gets Pisted

Skiing down the Vallée Blanche gets easier with a wide exit piste

This winter the last section of the Vallee Blanche route will be made more accessible after the track has been widened, giving way for a piste basher to smooth out any bumps and icey patches.

After much discussion and planning the route down from the Montenvers site back into Chamonix town is now set to be a 'piste'.
The forest track has been widened so that a piste basher can now rework the snow on the off-piste route from the Planards ski area in Chamonix up to the Montenvers site where skiing on the Mer de Glace glacier officially ends.

At present the timing of the piste basher is anywhere from 5am through to midday, so a skier making an early descent of the Vallee Blanche may come face to face with a piste basher.

As yet snow conditions for this infamous off-piste itinerary are not sufficient for a descent, readers can find more information on skiing the Vallee Blanche here.
