Hotel Mont Blanc in Chamonix sold
The four star Hotel Mont Blanc in Chamonix town centre was put up for sale by owners Best Mont Blanc group earlier this year and it has just been announced that the hotel has been bought by none other than Mr Taittinger - as in champagne!
Frantz Taittinger is a retired director of hotel groups including Kyriad, Campanile, Premiere Classe and Cote d Cote, as well as deluxe mansion house hotels in the south of France. With over a 1000 hotel projects to his name, Frantz has a wealth of experience to bring to the Hotel Mont Blanc.
Reports suggest Frantz has bought the hotel with his wife Djamila and their son Tariq will be onboard to run the hotel from next February. The plan is to restore the hotel to its former glory, turning it into a deluxe hotel with just 40 bedrooms.
The Taittinger family, famous for the champagne of the same name, has a long history with Chamonix going back over 60 years. Frantz's brother Pierre Emmanuel is the former chairman of the 'Residents Secondaires' association, having long spent holidays in the Chamonix valley in their holiday home.
It has not been announced yet when or if the Hotel Mont Blanc, which is next to the Tourist Office in the centre of Chamonix, will close for refurbishing works, but we look forward to seeing its transformation!
