Is Passy going to get a cable tow?

We were browsing through the local paper over a nice cup of tea and a biccie when we came across an article that nearly made us spit biccie crumbs all over said paper. Apparently plans are in the course of being submitted to the Mairie in Passy by a private company wanting to install a cable tow above the St Georges parking area at Lake Passy, just a 25min drive down the valley from Chamonix.

This would mean visitors could enjoy a bit of wakeboarding, kneeboarding or waterskiing using what the French have termed a 'teleski nautique'. Quite common in the inland lakes of the UK, the system consists of up to five pylons around a portion of a lake to make a sort of 'circle'. Much like a draglift, the waiting wakeboarder is passed the handle which is on a wire connected to the main cable tow. Then is drags you around the circuit, with you (in theory) staying upright.

There are no further details as yet and it may very well prove to be a pipe-dream if the plans aren't well received. But just imagine, popping down to Passy in the balmy summer evenings to pull a few Hoochie Glides and land a few frontside 360s!
