James Woods became the first Brit to medal in Winter X-Games Europe today.

The Sheffield skier beat previous gold medal winner Bobby Brown and some of the best slopestyle skiers in the world to take the bronze medal on a very snowy course in Tignes.

Having qualified in first place Woodsy was looking strong and his first run scored 89.66 out of a possible 100 putting him in first place. As the competition went on Andreas Hatveit moved into first place and then second as JF Houle took the top spot pushing James down into third place.

The course was running slower and slower and many of the riders appeared to be struggling through the falling snow to get the speed and pop for the kickers but Woodsy's run had a strong rails section and a stomped double corked 1260 followed by a switch 900.

Tomorrow Jamie Nicholls, Aimee Fuller and Jenny Jones will take on the slopestyle course, here's hoping that Woodsy's was the first of a few medals for the Brits in Tignes.
