Kilian Jornet has beaten the record for the fastest return ascent of the Mont Blanc on foot, with a staggering time of 4 hours 57 minutes.

Having set off from the Triangle de l'Amitie this morning at 4:46am the record breaking duo set off on foot to climb the 3798 metres up to the Mont Blanc. Taking the road up to the Mont Blanc Tunnel, the pair then followed the Grands Mulet route up, passing the Vallot refuge all the way to the Mont Blanc summit before making the return journey.

Killian Jornet is well known for his record breaking running and ski mountaineering performances whilst Matheo Jacquemoud is a young athlete with high aspirations, he recently beat the previous Mont Blanc summit record on skis with a time of 5 hours and five minutes.
Matheo Jacquemoud unfortunately did not finish due to injury. The pair arrived at the summit after 3 hours 30 minutes of climbing, however of the descnet near the Jonction, Matheo slipped and injured his leg, forfeiting his record attempt.

A fine effort from Kilian Jornet, congratulations.
