Plan Glacier Refuge (2730m), Massif du Mont-Blanc
Traditional refuge surrounded by glaciers at the Aiguille de Bionnassay
An authentic mountain hut that was renovated in 2006 and offers food and shelter to hikers, trail runners, climbers and mountaineers.
Situated on the moraine on the right bank of the Miage Glacier at an altitude of 2680m, this refuge offers great access and views of the surrounding area.
Accommodation is available on a half board, B&B or bed only basis. Lunch and refreshments are available throughout the day and the refuge is known for it's traditional home cooked cuisine, using fresh local ingredients.
Booking is compulsory for one of the 20 bunk beds in the dormitory during the guarded summer months between the start of May and end of September. Bedding is provided but for hygiene reasons you are advised to bring your own sleeping bag liner. The refuge has dry toilets and a washroom but no shower facilities due to water being limited.
This refuge can also be used as a winter shelter, it is unstaffed but equipped with blankets and gas for cooking. In some instances in winter this refuge may be completely covered by snow.
Please contact the refuge directly for this season's prices and opening/closing dates.
Worth knowing
The route to the refuge can be treacherous in bad weather, or in early summer when there may still be a lot of snow. You can contact the guardian for advise on conditions and access.
