In summer the Lognan cable car takes you up to mid station at Grands Montets at an altitude of 1,972 metres. 

From here you can walk over towards the Refuge de Lognan where you'll see the impressive Argentière glacier creeping down the mountain. 

You can take mountain bikes on the cable car in summer giving you access to a couple of single tracks trails down through the trees and back to the valley floor. There are lots of hiking trails accessible from this area too.

Events in Argentiere

During the summer you might find hundreds of trail runners passing through the area as part of the UTMB week, which sees races of varying lengths and difficulty set off around the trails of the Chamonix valley. 

Things to do in Argentiere

During the summer months Grands Montets is popular with climbers, mountain bikers and hikers. There are trails for hikers, climbers head for the Aiguille d’Argentiere whilst road bikers take the route to the Emosson dam. 

Directions

Grands Montets can be accessed easily by bus or train and there's also a huge car park at the bottom lift station which is never full over the summer.
