A little Reminder that Hiking/Skinning up Pistes is Forbidden During the Day
It is forbidden to hike up pistes during the opening hours of a ski area
The law states that for safety reasons, it is prohibited to move in the opposite direction of the normal flow of skiers, whatever the means used, except when absolutely necessary (emergency) during the opening periods of the pistes, and during the grooming process.
The Chamonix Valley have made designated hiking tracks available at Grand Montets and Les Houches. Grand Montets proves very popular for people hiking up the Pierre Ric as it is generally in the best condition. This year however, it is still some way from being ready for the winter season and the Pisteurs are working hard to make snow and ensure its opening for the Christmas period.
The entirety of the by-law is available on La Chamionarde.
