A New Future for Chamonix Buses

The new plans include more frequent bus services that correspondent better with train timetables, improved information at stops and on buses, and a renewed energy-efficient fleet that will reduce fuel emissions. The best news for party goers is that the night bus will run 4 times a night, with a request service at weekends!

Timetable & Services

• Main bus lines (1 and 2) will run every half hour during summer and winter, dropping to every hour on Sundays and during interseason
• The Mulet will circulate every 10 minutes during winter and winter, and every 15 minutes during interseason
• Chamo'nuit will now run 4 times per night from 20:30 until midnight in both summer and winter; it will also be available to book on request at weekends by calling +33 (0)450 53 05 55 before 16:00
• The main bus stop in Chamonix Sud has already undergone renovation, with more to follow to make it a more comfortable and convenient place to wait
• Bus stops will provide improved information on schedules, delays, weather conditions, lift openings, etc.
• Passengers will be able to connect to free WiFi on some buses

Eco-Friendly Buses

• The renewed fleet aims to reduce the environmental impact and phase out the old Euro 3 type vehicles
• 8 new buses will be introduced to the valley this December 2015, complying with the Euro 6 models that reduce emissions through purification of exhaust fumes and reduced fuel consumption
• 6 new hybrid buses will be brought into service this April 2016, which will lower fuel consumption by 30% and decrease co2 emissions by an estimated 26 tonnes per bus each year
• The small Mulet shuttles will all be replaced by electronic vehicles with recyclable batteries and energy-efficient options

The Chamonix bus service apparently carries more than 2.1 million passengers per year and has doubled the number of services it provides during the last 15 years. The plan is to double it again by 2020 - hopefully taking more cars off the roads and making it easier for people to travel conveniently and comfortably around Chamonix.

Bus tarifs will remain at 1.50€ per journey, or free to anyone with a Via'Cham card. The night bus will cost just 2€ per journey. You can find all current bus timetables on this page, to be updated as soon as the new schedules are released.
