Le Matafan Restaurant
Gourmet restaurant serving haute cuisine in a centrally located five-star hotel
Located in the heart of Chamonix, inside the Mont Blanc Hotel, this elegant and sophisticated restaurant serves haute cuisine in impeccable surroundings.
The name of the restaurant means in the local dialect "to kill hunger". They aim to return to a simpler, traditional and regional cuisine including recipes such as foie gras, fera fish from Lake Leman and a great selection of cheeses and desserts.
This menu changes every two weeks and is devised by chef Mickey Bourdillat, who has worked in Michelin-starred restaurants before, so you know this isn't going to be a budget night out. It's renowned for being excellent though and the ambience is just the right balance between formal and friendly.
The restaurant opens out into a lounge bar where they often have musicians playing, if you don't want a full meal you can order light snacks to eat in the bar. There is also a large sunny garden which is laid out with tables and chairs in the summer.
Open daily for lunch from 12:00 to 14:00 and for dinner from 19:00 to 21:30.
