La Folie Douce opens its doors in Chamonix
Apres ski in resort will never be the same again
On December 21st La Folie Douce officially opened its doors to winter, becoming Chamonix's first ever legitimate ski-in apres venue.
The infamous apres bar first appeared in the Alps in 1981 and has become the place for mountain side revellers in many resorts, with locations in Val d'Isere, Val Thorens, Meribel, Alpe d'Huez, Megeve, and Morzine-Avoriaz. Chamonix is a new departure for the company as they open their first ever hotel, located on the site of the former Club Med resort on Avenue du Savoy. But don't worry, they're still bringing their famous apres ski with them, and in a big way.

The main indoor apres venue offers an energetic mix of music and live performers, guitarists and saxophone players performing over DJ sets, with cabaret and aerial performers. The whole venue has a sleek, futuristic yet industrial feel, with big screen projections and amazing light shows.
Need a break from the apres madness? Folie Douce Chamonix has you covered. Take a breather and head upstairs to the stylish Le Hanssen Cocktail Club. Before dark, marvel at the snowy Mont Blanc massif through massive bay windows, lounge in a comfy arm chair, or enjoy fantastic cocktails with friends late into the night. It's the place to be when apre finishes downstairs, remaining open until 01:00 in the morning.
The apre ski here runs from 16:00 to 20:00 daily, with various different themes such as Wednesday's WTF Party, where things can get a little strange. La Folie Douce is situated right at the foot of the Savoy beginners slope, and when snow conditions are right, is accessible via the Brevent home run. When the home run isn't in, take the Brevent bubble down, walk across the road to the Savoy, and strap your skis back on for the true ski in apres feel. It's sure to be a game changer in Chamonix.
